Grand Opening

Date: October 5th

Location: In the Gerðuberg festival hall on the second floor - Berg

Event description: The grand opening of the festival takes place in Gerðiberg. The program includes artist's speeches, musical performances, performance art and a short dance piece. In parallel with the grand opening, a joint exhibition of 17 artists opens on the first floor of the building. The installation The lame leads the blind will also be open.

Group Exhibition

Date: October 5th – 20th 

Location: In Gerðuberg’s exhibition space on the first floor.

Opening Hours: The exhibition is open during the opening hours of Gerduberg and during other events of the festival.

Event description: Exhibition of 17 artists. The exhibition opens at the same time as the grand opening of Art Without Borders. The exhibition consists of diverse works, with special emphasis on the connection between two-dimensional and three-dimensional works.

Haltur leiðir blindan

(The lame leads the blind)

Location: Í Felli, sal á fyrstu hæð í Gerðubergi

Event description: Performance and installation by Bára Halldórsdóttir based on the experience and life of disabled women. The exhibition explores the personality of each woman individually and whether it is the community or them that is disabled. Guests are invited to see the world from their point of view, on their terms.

Guided Tour of Group Exhibition

Date: October 6th

Location: In Gerðuberg’s exhibition space on the first floor. 

Time: 3pm - 4pm

Event description: Ragnheiður Maísól Sturludóttir, Artistic Director of Arts Without Borders will guide guests through the group exhibition on the first floor of Gerðuberg. She will present both the work of the exhibition as well as the artists.

Art Market

Date: October 12th and 13th

Location: Gerðuberg

Time: 12pm - 5pm both days.

Event description: A number of artists will sell their works of art and crafts on the art market. The works will be of various kinds, paintings, drawings, embroidery and woodwork. This is a unique opportunity to find works by outstanding artists.

Creative Writing Workshop

Date: October 16th, 17th and 18th

Final Concert

Event description:  The Bell Choir of Tónsofa Valgerðar performs at the Final Concert of Art Without Borders. The program consists of, among other things, Icelandic works the Bell Choir performed at a concert in Norway this fall. Participants in the Creative Writing Workshop will also read from their works.

Event description: In the exhibition Witches and Angels, María Gísladóttir and Heiðdís Traustadóttir show drawings, prints, collages, watercolours and oil paintings.

Opening Hours: The exhibition is open from 8.30am to 4pm every weekday and a special opening will be on the weekend at 1pm to 4pm.

Event description: On display are three-dimensional pieces of wool, plastic and paper, and two-dimensional watercolors and oil works. During this year, wool training and recycling has been carried out at Hlutverkasetur.

Event description: LITIRNIR is an art exhibition in Ás vinnustofa. The exhibition is the result of the group LITIRNIR. The group members have met 7 times. The goal is to learn and reflect on colours, find joy and tranquillity and above all enjoy the moment.

Event description: Halldóra S. S. Bjarnadóttir shows knitted bow ties for small dogs and people in Hannesarholt. All the exhibited works are for sale.

Kötturinn sem fer sínar eigin leiðir

Event description: Kötturinn sem fer sínar eigin leiðir is a musical based on a work by Ólafur Haukur Símonarson. All songs and lyrics are also by him. Eighteen actors from Tjarnarleikhópurinn participate in the show, which is 1 hour and 20 minutes.
